KIMBERLY EINMO

MEXICAN MYSTERY QUILT
WEDNESDAY  2/6  8:30-11:30AM            1:00-4:00PM

Get ready and set sail to make the Official 2008 Quilt Seminars at Sea Mexican Cruise Mystery Quilt!  Designed exclusively for this cruise, this lovely quilt is a clever combination of whimsy and tradition.  The blocks themselves are not difficult to piece and you’ll love the secondary pattern that emerges when they are set together.  The design is a perfect blend of south of the border delights, and you’ll have fun learning some fast and efficient techniques for perfect piecing along the way.  Choose your own fabrics by carefully selecting the color values which will be listed on the Quilt Seminars at Sea website in early fall of 2007, or purchase a kit with the fabrics already chosen for you.  Whether or not you’ve ever made a mystery quilt before, the success of this mystery quilt is certain, so join the fiesta.  Ole!  Sewing machines will be provided for this class.

MEXICAN CRUISE SOUVENIR WALLHANGING
THURSDAY 2/7       8:30-11:30AM            1:00-4:00PM

Create a personal, quilted keepsake of your cruise to Mexico!  You’ll start by stitching a simple, hand embroidered (redwork-style) map of our cruise route complete with all the ports of call in colors as vibrant as a Mexican fiesta!  Then you’ll piece an easy fabric border around your map -- but that’s just where the fun begins.  At each port of call, you’ll search for unique items such as colorful buttons, pins, charms, laces, ribbons, trims, ticket stubs or even coins as a reminder of each destination.  Throughout the cruise, you’ll embellish your map with your unique “souvenirs” and then share your one-of-a-kind discoveries with your fellow shipmates.  The creative energy and ingenuity will flow as fellow “quilters-turned-souvenir-hunters” become friends; as trinkets are gathered and friendships are forged.  By the end of the cruise your embroidered wall hanging will be a tangible, quilted souvenir you can display in your home to help you treasure your memories for a lifetime!

CLASS NOTE:
Holding a quilt seminar on a cruise ship is a unique experience.  Sometimes there are space and time challenges that prevent our being able to be “project oriented” and we must concentrate more on process.  It is very unlikely that you will have an absolutely finished project at the end of a class.  It is helpful if your expectations match these realities.  But regardless of how far you are able to progress, our instructors are professionals -- some of the best in the quilting world -- and we know you will learn many new techniques and have a wonderful experience.
