Class assignments and supply lists will be mailed to you along with your notice for final payment 90 days prior to departure. Classes are open to all levels of ability, unless otherwise stated in the description.

Chip Out of Every BlockIs this chip going in or going out? Blink and the Illusion may change on you! A fun quilt of illusion and so simple to make, just squares and triangles. Karen will bring the perfect gradated fabric for your cubes. You will even get to pick your own colors! The only fabric you need is for your background, the rest is done for you. Join us for a fun class and a quilt with a wonderful illusion of depth. Let Karen show you how easy it is to create a intriguing quilt of illusion.

Narrative Hand Embroidery on Wool Laura Wasilowski

Hand Embroidery on WoolTell your story in thread. Create a densely hand embroidered vignette using pearl cotton threads and wool fabric. Learn a swift way to transfer you original sketch to the wool and how simple embroidery stitches create line, pattern, and texture to illustrate your story. A kit of hand-dyed threads, needles, and a solid colored wool fabric is provided. You'll also receive a handbook of embroidery stitches to inspire even more stitch ideas. Enjoy the ease of creating small artwork on wool.

Stitching VocabularyThe quilter's dilemma is always to choose an appropriate design to fill a space on the quilt top. It would be helpful to have a collection of usable designs at your fingertips as you begin to think about your selection. This class will stitch your way through many designs including feathers, grid patterns, unmarked designs and more. Browsing your collection will undoubtedly inspire your next project! We will explore multiple styles of free motion stitches to add to your collection. Each style has its own quilt and can be used for future reference. This class is for anyone wanting to free motion her own quilts from beginner to experienced.

Pick Up SticksA perfect "2 for 1" pattern and class! Let Karen show you how to create two different runners from the same two pieces of fabric. It is like magic! The runners have a wonderful illusion of depth but are created with easy to make squares and triangles. Karen will bring the perfect gradated fabric for your runner, you can even pick your two favorite colors. She will make sure to bring lots of color choices for you.

Tropical Flora Pat Delaney

Tropical FloraCome play with me! Our cruise project is a wall hanging using a beautiful tropical fabric. We will use a technique with watercolor pencils and stitching to create "shadow images" continuing the design into the solid fabric. Once the image is in place we'll layer the quilt and use free motion stitching and color to finish up. You will end up with a quilt that can become a wall hanging or pillow and have a perma-nent memory of a fantastic vacation.

Bring your Nut House to life with a kit of beautifully hand-dyed fabrics and threads. (No sewing machine is needed.)

A throw that can grow to whatever size you wish and is perfect showcase of all those lovely batiks (or batik-like fabrics you've collected. Let Karen show you how value, rather than color does all the work in this beautiful quilt. Don't let the pattern throw you, it is make from just one quilt block and is created from just half-square triangles. The blocks don't take long to make. Once you know how, it will be hard to stop making them!

Hue Can Do It! Pat Delaney

Hue Can Do It!Choosing a color scheme for your quilts doesn't have to be a challenge. Learn easy tricks from Pat Delaney, winner of numerous color awards. We'll experiment to discover the secrets to successful color choices and we'll also discuss the importance of value in making your quilts lively and interesting. This is a non-sewing class. We will play with fabric scraps, glue and templates to arrive at wonderful color combinations for your quilt blocks. Working with Joen Wolfrum's excellent color wheel, we will explore the many types of color plans and you will be inspired to be adventuresome and daring with color in your next quilt. So, raid your scrap bags and stash and come prepared to dream in color!

Fuse Your Bloomers! Laura Wasilowski

Fuse Your BloomersBuild a blooming garden from colorful fused fabrics. Learn basic fusing techniques like free-cutting, bias fusing, collage building, and pattern transfer. Celebrate the joy of improvisational design and create your flower composition with a kit of hand-dyed fabrics and sampler of embroidery threads. It's fun, it's easy, and no sewing machine is needed.

Round Robin Sampler: No need to sign up in advance.

Class notes: Holding a quilt seminar on a cruise ship is a unique experience. Sometimes there are space and time challenges that prevent our being able to be "project oriented" and we must concentrate more on process. It is very unlikely that you will have an absolutely finished project at the end of a class. It is helpful if your expectations match these realities. But regardless of how far you are able to progress, our instructors are professionals—some of the best in the quilting world—and we know you will learn many new techniques and have a wonderful experience!
