October 13-15, 2019
Enjoy two nights at the Riu Plaza New York Times Square, located in the heart of this great city and surrounded by emblematic sites such as Central Park, Rockefeller Center, the Empire State Building, Carnegie Hall and the luxury stores on Fifth Avenue. Located in the Theater District, it's also just steps away from Times Square and a few blocks to the Garment district.
Enjoy the abundance and variety that overfills the New York City neighborhood known as the Garment District. It's a genuine textile lover's shopping mecca. We'll visit the last-remaining, 100-year-old silk flower factory and shops brimming with embellishments and uncommon textiles – some arranged with a museum-like precision, others reminiscent of yard sale chaos. We'll start the tour at Benartex, where Paula Nadelstern has been designing an annual fabric collection for close to 20 years. To enjoy this sampler, we'll have to remain focused and be on our feet a lot. So, wear comfy, rubber soled shoes. If you want to send a package home at the end of the day, there are many shipping services in the area.
At the tour's end, we'll find sustenance at Ben's, a New York kosher style deli. Try a knish, a kneidel or pastrami on rye or order something else off the menu.
