Full day classes that begin on Monday morning will be concluded on Thursday afternoon. Class assignments and supply lists will be mailed to you along with your final class confirmation February, 2007. CHARLOTTE WARR ANDERSEN
“NORTH TO ALASKA” LANDSCAPE

SUNDAY ALL DAY
Piecing by hand, create a delightful landscape reminiscent of our voyage up the Inside Passage to Alaska. This process features paper templates, but is not foundation pieced and uses all straight seams - no curves! The technique is not difficult and Charlotte will show you how easy it is to make inset corners.
Skill Level: All Levels

FUSIBLE FISH TOTE BAG
MONDAY MORNING AND THURSDAY AFTERNOON
This project features an appliquéd fish constructed independently of the background using fusible thread - a process that leaves the appliqué soft and flexible. Once the fish is assembled, it will be applied to the front panel of the tote bag and the edges will be finished with satin stitching. You will have a wonderful memento of our Alaska trip! Sewing machines will be furnished for this class.
Skill levels: All Levels

GRIZZLY BEAR PORTRAIT
FRIDAY ALL DAY
Using reverse layering, create a wonderful portrait of Alaska’s most identifiable animal - the grizzly bear! The bear caricature will be stitched in hand appliqué in several values of fabric to give a realistic impression, making a small top that can either be framed or incorporated into a quilted wall hanging. Take a little of Alaska home with you by making this special keepsake!
Skill Level: All levels

KAREN KAY BUCKLEY
GARDEN MEDLEY
SUNDAY ALL DAY
I just love seeing the beautiful colors of the blooming flowers in the spring and summer. At least in my area that is the only time we see them in bloom. But now you will be able to see them year round with this easy to make 21” X 24 1/2” wall quilt. There are three panels in this project, and in this workshop we will focus on just the center panel. You will be thrilled with your smooth curves, sharp points and perfect circles as you begin to hand appliqué on this wonderful little project.
Skill Level: All levels

Participants will be amazed at the ease in designing pieced and appliqué borders to fit any quilt.

If you think designing your own appliqué pattern is difficult, you will change your mind after learning all of Karen’s tips and tricks. SENSATIONAL SASHIKO
FRIDAY ALL DAY
A non-traditional approach to a traditional needle art form. Sharon’s theory is that if it can be done by hand, it can be done by machine and sashiko is no exception. Originating as the “common” man’s garment decoration, sashiko has been adopted by quilters to add exciting designs to their quilt tops and garments. Using your sewing machine and heavy weight thread, learn how to achieve this stunning embellishment on either a single thickness of fabric or through a quilt “sandwich”. Sewing machines will be provided for this class. Skill Level: All Levels

CHRISTMAS IN JULY
FRIDAY ALL DAY
Come and join Mary Lou while she demonstrates how to make a darling Christmas wall hanging that includes children’s toys, cats, dogs, holly leaves, button berries, stars and other options for your one of a kind quilt to hang during the holidays. This wall hanging gives you the option of putting on family names to welcome loved ones or friends or pets during festive Christmas days. Embellishments of Grandma’s buttons, collections of trinkets and crystals will all be discussed as well to make this quilt a lasting heirloom to be passed along. Lots of smiles, inspiration and fun promised. All skill levels invited! Sewing machines will be provided for this class.

CLASS NOTE:
Holding a quilt seminar on a cruise ship is a unique experience. Sometimes there are space and time challenges that prevent our being able to be “project oriented” and we must concentrate more on process. It is very unlikely that you will have an absolutely finished project at the end of a class. It is helpful if your expectations match these realities. But regardless of how far you are able to progress, our instructors are professionals—some of the best in the quilting world – and we know you will have a wonderful experience!
