Tower One
Tuesday, January 28, 2014 • 8:30 am - 4:00 pm, Lunch Break from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
In the tradition of American patchwork, the basic block in this quit was designed to commemorate an historic event: the rebuilding of the World Trade Center. The lead tower, Tower One, consists of simple symmetries. Architecturally, it is a square that becomes an octagon that becomes a square. The quilt block, Tower One, is shaped like its namesake. In this class, students will explore bilaterally symmetrical fabric and learn unique machine piecing and template making techniques. After learning the necessary techniques, students will prepare and sew four diverse blocks. This is a good beginning for a larger quilt.
Sewing machines will be provided for this class.

Class Notes: Holding a quilt seminar on a cruise ship is a unique experience. Sometimes there are space and time challenges that prevent our being able to be "project oriented" and we must concentrate more on process. It is very unlikely that you will have an absolutely finished project at the end of a class. It is helpful if your expectations match these realities. But regardless of how far you are able to progress, our instructors are professionals – some of the best in the quilting world – and we know you will learn many new techniques and have a wonderful
experience!
